Morton H. Meyerson

February 25, 2015 By admin

Morton H. Meyerson was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1938. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1961, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Philosophy. After college, Morton became an officer in the Army serving two years of active duty and six years in the active reserves, where he focused on computers. Morton began his business career at Bell Helicopter as a data processing engineer and then joined Electronic Data Systems (EDS) as systems engineer. During his nearly 21 years with EDS he ultimately became President and Vice Chair, leading 45,000 employees. Morton was the Chair and CEO of DuPont Glore Forgan, a Wall Street brokerage firm. After retiring from EDS, he focused on private investing in the office of Richard Rainwater. In 1992, Morton re-joined the corporate world as Chair and CEO of Perot Systems, retiring in 1998.

Morton spends a considerable amount of time leading 2 family foundations. He chairs the Morton H. Meyerson Family Tzedakah Funds. Morton and his family firmly believe in the Jewish philosophy of “Tzedakah” and they pursue projects through the David Nathan Meyerson Foundation and the Marlene Nathan Meyerson Family Foundation. These foundations primarily support small non-profit organizations with low administrative expenses and “change agent” leaders who are passionate, competent, and kind. The DNMF focuses on education and helps resilient people in need who don’t have adequate resources. The MNMF focuses on art and Jewish Community Centers.
Morton was elected into The American Academy of Arts & Sciences 2007 Class of Fellows. He was also inducted into The Outsourcing Hall of Fame of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals in February 2013.
Morton currently serves on the board of the Dallas Symphony Association and is Vice Chairman Emeritus for the National Park Foundation.
